Plot
Produced as a result of the seventh edition of the contest "Anima for Society", the show "Beyond the Acacias", presents moments of the life of Lena Constante, an artist who spent 3000 days in communist prisons, to reveal the way in which the force of the mind can bring salvation or lead to destruction.
A 10-minute excerpt from the show was developed by Ana Crăciun-Lambru with two American actors at the National Puppet Theater Conference, held at the Eugene O'Neill Theater in the United States.
"The cinematographic techniques are combined live with the shadow theater and puppet theater elements to create immersive visual pictures. Light, color and darkness combine in unexpected ways in this story of survival.
Lena Constante spent 12 years in prison as a political prisoner. After her release and rehabilitation, Lena wrote the book "The Silent Escape", in which she talks about the moments of hard torture, forced starvation, the moments of loneliness that often brought her to the brink of despair, but especially about the " the key to escape".
A theater is the place where the morals of the society meet a mirror and the place where we find the balance of the soul. The story of Lena Constante has its place on the stage. Knowing our past, we can protect our future. " - Ana Crăciun Lambru, director
